I was fortunate to work with Barry Rothman on my applications that required Personal History and Statement of Purpose essays. His wealth of experience in academia made this a much more tailored experience and he was able to give concrete advice on the best approach for each school. His general questionnaire teased out long forgotten but pertinent essay background information and we had some very amusing conversations. Barry is not just skilled at applications; he is a genuinely nice person and a great mentor. We had a eureka moment while attempting to collaborate by sending drafts back and forth when we realized that our writing idiosyncrasies and “OCD's” clashed. Barry was quick to suggest zoom meetings with joint corrections of the essays in real time. This greatly increased the effectiveness of each session and made the experience actually enjoyable. Dr. Rothman was very helpful in my application process for a masters program and I appreciate it greatly. He was able to walk me through all the steps in a patient and easy to understand way. I needed the most help with my statement of purpose and research abstract and I definitely felt like I could not have written them without Dr. Rothman's help. Even though organic chemistry was not his area of expertise, he was still able to understand my writing and help me improve the written portions. I also really appreciated the prewriting questionnaire he sent, as it was a great way for me to organize my thoughts and essay. Some other parts that he helped with were deciding on programs and asking for recommendation letters. Overall, Dr. Rothman provided an invaluable amount of help and resources in this process and I would not have gotten to where I am without him.

Accepted really helped my daughter finesse her college essay/personal statement. She worked with Marie Todd who was recommended by Linda. I can truly say she was very instrumental in getting my daughter to think outside the box so that her story could jump off the page. Marie helped to fine tune her original idea. Marie took the time to have the hard conversations while being nurturing and patient. My daughter was accepted to 8 universities which included 3 Ivies. She will be attending Columbia this fall.

I had an amazing experience with the Accepted team. Karin Ash helped me with my statement of purpose and my personal history statement. She was always responsive, gave me great tips, and the editings were super helpful. I ended up getting into the master's program I wanted at UC Berkeley.
